Free COVID-19 testing in Galesville Saturday

The Trempealeau County Health Department, emergency management and the Wisconsin National Guard are hosting a free COVID-19 testing site at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Middle School this Saturday.

Testing will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, 19650 Prairie Ridge Lane in Galesville. This will be the fifth community testing site held in Trempealeau County. The most recent community testing site was in Arcadia on Aug. 29 and had the fewest participants with 50 people being tested, eight receiving positive results. Previous sites including Arcadia on May 20 (180 tested, five positive), Eleva-Strum High School on July 13 (158 tests, 18 positive) and Blair-Taylor School District on July 28 (121 tests, 12 positive) had more than twice the participants.

The testing event is for any Wisconsin resident age five or older experiencing at least one symptom of COVID-19. Symptoms of COVID 19 can be mild and include: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or new loss of taste or smell.

Testing also is available for anyone who has been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Testing will be done by nasal swab and there is no cost to participate. We ask that all community members wear a mask at this event to protect the staff collecting information.
