James Alex

James Alex, 97, of Palm Desert, CA., entered eternal life Friday, April 10, 2020.

Jim was born in Onyx, Idaho, February 22, 1923, to his Greek immigrant parents. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II as a pilot instructor, he attended the University of Utah and obtained his degree in accounting. In 1947, he married Helen Lampropoulos and moved to the midwest. Helen and Jim had two daughters. His early career included foundry administration and ownership in Indiana and Wisconsin. At the age of 45, he took a risk by changing his career direction and became a self-employed manufacturer’s representative. He continued being self-employed in that capacity after moving to Nashville, TN., and eventually retired in 1990. In 1998, Jim moved to Palm Desert, CA.

Jim’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. His grand laughter will always be remembered.

Beloved father of Kathy (Chuck) Gauger of Whitehall, and Valerie (George) Kreuser of New Berlin; dear grandfather of Mandy (Sean) Auger of Verona, Libby (Skyler) Weekes of Denver, CO., Joe (Janell) Kreuser of Muskego, and Tara (Joe) Kessenich of Villa Park, IL.; proud Popou to Emma and Sean Jr. Auger, Alexia, Joshua and Aubrey Kreuser, and Sophia Kessenich; loving brother-in-law to Elizabeth Alex; fond uncle to Jamie Bateman, George Alex and Michael Alex.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine Alexopoulos; brothers: Peter Alex and Frank Alex; sister-in-law, Cathy Alex; nephews: Matthew Alex and John Alex.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 16, 2020, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, officiated by Fr. Theodore Pantels of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Palm Desert, CA.
