Whitehall sports program dropped

The Whitehall Area Youth Association will not have a softball or baseball season this summer because of concerns about the COVID-19 virus.

President of the Whitehall association, Melissa Pientock, said the seasons were cancelled after the sports’ leagues, Chippewa Valley Baseball League and Chippewa Valley Girls Fastpitch League, cancelled their season.

“We feel that without any guidance from our league or guidelines to follow, we need to make sure we keep everyone involved safe and healthy,” Pientok said. “To do that we need to cancel the season.”

Pientok said the association’s Facebook page will include tips on staying active and honing sport skills.
