Forfeits lead Norse to win

The Whitehall wrestling team picked up its first Dairyland Conference win of the season as forfeits prevented their match against Cochrane-Fountain City from being competitive.

After Whitehall scored the first 18 points, all on forfeits, C-FC won two matches to get within eight, but forfeits and pins put the Pirates away. With the score 18-10, Connor Gleeson (138) received a forfeit for the Norse. Dylan Meyer (145) then pinned Jacob Isakson before a double forfeit at 152 pounds and Eric Kleinhans received a forfeit at 160, making the score 36-10. Ryan Kleinhans (170) and Silas Nelson (182) came back with consecutive pins before a double forfeit at 195 pounds and forfeits received by Liam Herrick (220) and Wylie Dunn (285). Independence/Gilmanton also defeated C-FC to improve their DC record to 1-1 on the season, while Blair-Taylor wrestled the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro varsity reserve team. Scores and match results for those two matches were not reported to the Times.

The Dairyland Conference season will wrap up on Thursday in Whitehall where the conference title will be decided as B-T sits at 2-0, Whitehall is 1-0, I/G is 1-1 and C-FC is 0-3. The duals against the M/G reserves do not count in the conference standings.
