Support child abuse prevention efforts by wearing blue Friday

Trempealeau County Human Services encourages Trempealeau County residents to wear blue on Friday to help promote Child Abuse Prevention Month. 

“We believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable and nurturing environment. Children are the foundation of our society, our community and our future. When we focus on preventing child abuse and neglect, the results are better childhoods, leading to healthier adults and stronger communities,” a release sent by the human services department said.

In 2019, Trempealeau County DHS received 440 reports of alleged child abuse or neglect.  County workers investigated 159 of these reports.  There were 243 reports of neglect, 122 reports of physical abuse, 67 reports of sexual abuse, 36 reports of emotional damage and 10 unborn child reports made in Trempealeau County for 2019. In 2019, the average number of children in out-of-home care every month was 34 children.
