Whitehall, Blair fire districts to share calls
The Whitehall council has approved an agreement that calls for Whitehall-Lincoln and Blair-Preston fire departments to be automatically dispatched for structure fires in any of the departments’ districts.
Under terms of the pact approved by the council last Tuesday, Trempealeau County dispatchers will alert both departments whenever it receives a report of a structure fire in their respective districts. Whitehall city administrator Ashley Slaby says the new agreement improves mutual aid to be automatic aid.
The agreement further stipulates that neither department can charge the other for assistance nor hold the other liable for injuries or damages.
The council also approved a change in parking on the north side of Scranton Street, moving from angle to parallel parking to allow for an exit lane for the drive through at the Waumandee State Bank.
The council entered into an agreement with the engineering firm of SEH for work to prepare Lee Street for improvement.
