Acres of land to be annexed from town of Trempealeau into village

A plot of land in the town of Trempealeau will soon be annexed into the village of Trempealeau.

The 2.23-acre plot sits between County Road K and Schubert Road and is surrounded by current village territory.

The owner of the property has asked to be annexed into the village with the plan of splitting the property into three lots, according to village president Jeff Barry.

The Trempealeau village board approved the annexation at its meeting last Thursday by a 5-0 vote, with board members Glenn Brommerich and Kit Locke absent.

The village will have to pay the 2023 property tax value of the property to the town of Trempealeau for the next five years as part of the annexation. That amount was not immediately available as of Thursday.

Because the property will be split into three taxable lots, the village “will come ahead” from those payments, village Administrator/Finance Director Isaac Pooler told the board.
