Arcadia ambulance sets open house for building

Just a few months past its 50th anniversary, the Arcadia Ambulance Service will host a ribbon cutting and open house Sunday at its new headquarters at 965 Dettloff Drive in Arcadia.

The 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. event is open to the public, and there will be refreshments. The ribbon cutting will be at 11 a.m. The service was founded in 1970. It is still seeking donations for the new building. Donations may be sent to Arcadia Ambulance Service, PO Box 156, 965 Dettloff St., Arcadia.

The building represents several years of effort to find a home for the service that covers the about 8,000 individuals in the cities of Arcadia and Independence, and the town of Arcadia, Burnside, Dodge, Glencoe, Montana and Waumandee.

Once housed in the former St. Joseph Hospital in Arcadia, the service has been working toward its current home since 2015 when Ashley Furniture bought the hospital building for a technology center.
