Arcadia boys drop two in CC play
While they were competitive in both games, the Arcadia boys basketball team wasn’t able to pick up a win in two chances last week.
The Raiders took a long road trip to Westby last week Monday and were within three at halftime, but fell flat in the second half of a 60-48 loss. On Thursday, they trailed Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau by three at halftime and were still in the game late, but 45 points from G-E-T’s Cody Schmitz were too much to overcome in a 72-64 loss (see story elsewhere in Sports).
The losses put Arcadia at 4-16 overall and 2-8 in Coulee Conference play. They played a nonconference game at La Crosse Aquinas on Monday and will host Onalaska Luther on Friday. That will be followed with a home game against Durand next Monday before heading to West Salem on Thursday to close out the regular season.

The Raiders were close, but the Norsemen pulled away in the second half.
Arcadia trailed 30-27 at halftime, but had trouble offensively in the second half. The Raiders managed just 21 more points as Westby pulled away for the 12-point win.
Arcadia shot 41.6 percent from the field, despite going four-for-16 on three-point attempts. They were four-for-eight from the free-throw line.
Richard Gomez led the team with 13 points and seven rebounds.
