Arcadia district invites public to comment on back-to-school plan

Masks, face coverings will be optional for students, staff

The Arcadia School District has invited members of the public to comment on the school’s back-to-school plan, which includes making masks optional for students and staff.

The meeting will be held at the Arcadia Elementary School library, 358 E. River St. at 6 p.m. this coming Monday. It will include an opportunity for members of the public to comment and provide input on the plan, which can be found here.

While the plan was, apparently, authored on July 20, it does not appear that it will change even after the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases in Trempealeau County. The plan states that “the wearing of masks will remain optional unless a public emergency health order is put in place that would require the school district to comply.”

Masks will be required on school buses per the Transportation Security Administration’s definition that school busses and vans are public transportation.

Furthermore, the plan says that students will not be given an option to attend classes remotely.

Members of the public who would like to provide written comment or input regarding the contents of the plan may do so by emailing executive assistant Dana Hoesley at hoesleyd@arcadia.k12.wi.us or by mailing written comments to:
