Arcadia man dies in crash

An Arcadia man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on State Road 93 after his vehicle struck oncoming traffic around noon on Saturday, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department.

James Williams, 55, was the lone occupant in his vehicle that, according to the report sent by the sheriff’s department, was heading southbound before crossing the centerline and striking a northbound truck, driven by Michael Buxrude, 60, of Moorhead, Minn.

The report said Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, near Lewis Valley Road in the town of Arcadia. Buxrude, who was also the only passenger in his vehicle, was airlifted to a local hospital with what were described as serious injuries. No update on his condition was available as of Monday of this week.

No cause for the accident was provided as it remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department.  

Assisting at the scene were the Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Department, Independence Fire Department, Arcadia Ambulance Service, Mayo Helicopter and Arcadia Police Department.
