Arcadia man dies in logging accident

Galen Mueller, 75, of Arcadia was found dead after a tree fell on him on Friday, according to a press release issued by the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department. 

The sheriff’s department received a report saying that Mueller was missing at 7:43 p.m. on Friday. The reporting party indicated that Mueller had been cutting wood at a residence off of County Road J in the town of Arcadia earlier in the day.

Deputies arrived at the residence and located Mueller’s truck. They proceeded to search the property with the assistance of the Dodge and Arcadia-Glencoe fire departments using K-9s and a thermal imaging drone. Mueller’s body was located several hundred yards from his truck and he was determined to be deceased at approximately 11:25 p.m.

The investigation showed that injuries were sustained from a tree falling on Mueller with no foul play suspected. The incident remains under investigation. 

Also assisting at the scene were the Arcadia Ambulance Service and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
