B-T, G-E-T softball players earn all-state honors

Softball players from Blair-Taylor and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau were honored as first-team players in their divisions by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association.

Lindsay Steien of B-T and Genna O’Neill of G-E-T were both first-team all-state picks. Steien was selected in the Small School Division — consisting of schools in Divisions Four and Five. O’Neill was picked in the Medium School Division, made up of schools in Divisions Two and Three.

B-T’s Chloe Wagner was a second-team pick and Abby Thompson was honorable mention. Steien hit .602 with 14 triples and one home run, while Wagner batted .500 with three home runs and a team-best 39 RBIs. Thompson hit .412 with 28 RBIs.

Thompson and Steien also split the pitching duties for the Wildcats, who went 26-0 before losing to eventual state champion Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in the Division Five sectional final. Thompson was 13-1 with an earned run average of 2.038, Steien was 12-0 with an ERA of 1.0.

O’Neill, who was also named the Coulee Conference Pitcher of the Year, also wasn’t alone as teammate Lindsey Lettner was an honorable mention pick. Statistics for the G-E-T players were not available.
