B-T holds off E/PC run, pulls away late

After Elmwood-Plum City made a run before halftime, the Blair-Taylor boys basketball team regrouped and pulled away for a 74-52 win.

The Wildcats took a 14-point lead early, but the Wolves rallied to pull within one at 32-31 at halftime.

“Man, we went cold in that later part of the first half,” B-T coach Randy Storlie said. “We had so many easy opportunities but just couldn’t score.”

B-T regrouped at halftime and took a 10-point lead early in the second half. The Wildcats kept pushing from there and went on to win by 22.

“We just kept doing what we do and in the second half and the ball would roll in for us unlike the first half,” Storlie said. “I am proud of the guys, they could have folded, but they stuck together and it was fun to watch them play together.”

Ethan Kniseley scored a game-high 25 points for the Wildcats while Ryan Oldendorf chipped in with 17. Hunter Wagner had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and CJ Dummer scored 11.

B-T was set to host Augusta on Tuesday and head to Independence/Gilmanton on Thursday before a game in De Soto on Saturday. This coming Tuesday, they’ll host Osseo-Fairchild.
