Butler gets pay bump from G-E-T school board

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District administrator Michele Butler will see around a $6,000 pay bump for the 2023-24 school year.

Butler received a 4.75 percent pay increase, bringing her annual salary to around $142,155.55. The increase is consistent with the board’s pay bump for other staff members this school year.

Butler was paid $136,034 in annual salary for 2022-23 with an additional $41,379 in benefits, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) public administrative salary report.

The G-E-T school board approved the increase after a 90-minute closed session discussion at its Sept. 11 meeting that also discussed Butler’s goals for the district. 

Butler has been with the district for the last three years.

The board earlier this year approved a two-year extension of Butler’s contract, tying her to the district for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years. 

The board still reviews administrative contracts each year.

Board President Pat Malone was not at the Sept. 11 meeting but told the Times that she supports the board’s decision and Butler. 

“She’s a strategic thinker. She has developed a good team with her administrative team and is passionate about education and child growth, and those are some of the things that I personally value,” Malone said last Tuesday.

“We’re glad to have her,” the board president added later. “It’s hard to find quality district administrators these days.”
