County OKs raises for elected officials
In keeping with raises given other county elected officials, supervisors approved a 2.88 percent annual pay increase for the sheriff, clerk of court and coroner.
The four-year scale approved by the board Monday mean that, by 2026, the clerk of court position will earn $76,799; sheriff, $106,995; and coroner, $14,266. County human services director Krista Weisenberger said the 2.88 percent increase matches raises approved for other elected county positions. The increases will go into effect for those taking office after the November general election.
Supervisors received a summary of the annual report for the Housing Authority for Trempealeau County, an organization that oversees subsidized rental homes in Pigeon Falls, Whitehall, Blair, Independence, Arcadia and Galesville. The summary says the authority is in a financially “very strong position” with debt-free real estate assets of $4,512,433.
The board voted to hold until its March meeting a proposal from Corporation Counsel Rick Niemeier to employ an assistant. The vote to postpone a vote came after Supervisor Dan Schreiner said he needed more information on the proposal.
Supervisors also agreed to name Galesville resident Eileen Harrison to the Aging, Disability Resource Center advisory board.
