DeJager to take over G-E-T softball

A new era of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau softball has officially begun.

Nate DeJager was unanimously approved as the high school’s new head softball coach at last Monday’s school board meeting.

DeJager brings with him years of experience and is “very involved” in the youth and middle school softball programs for G-E-T, athletic director Rick Schmidt told the school board last week.

“He does a really good job working with kids,” Schmidt said, adding that the new coach seems to be a “high character” person.

DeJager replaces longtime coach Dan Stuhr, who ran the G-E-T program for most of the last three decades.

The Red Hawks finished the 2021-22 season with a 20-6 record, including an undefeated 12-0 run to win a Coulee Conference title. The program graduated eight seniors last spring including First Team All-State pitcher Genna O’Neill.
