G-E-T alum to sing national anthem at Packers game

A Trempealeau County native is making a grand entrance to Lambeau Field.

Hunter Evenson had never been to a home game for the Green Bay Packers before last weekend, and he will now enter the historic football stadium by taking the microphone that has been held by some of the greatest performers in the world.

The 2012 graduate of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School and former choir teacher in the Independence School District will sing the national anthem at this Saturday’s preseason National Football League (NFL) game between the Packers and the Seattle Seahawks.

“It’s going to be nerve-racking because I’ve never sang for that many people before, but I hope I do Packer Nation proud when I sing for them,” Evenson said.

The county native has always been a big fan of former Packers kicker Mason Crosby, and his biggest hope is that he somehow gets to meet the kicker or gets a stamp of approval after his performance from a player Evenson grew up cheering for.
