Gundersen Tri-County implements visitor restrictions

Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall has implemented visitor restrictions at its hospital, care center and senior living apartments amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic to keep patients, residents, staff and communities safe.

Representatives from the hospital sent the following guidelines for visitors:

• Health and safety is the utmost importance to our patients, residents and staff. Because of this, we will be restricting all non-essential visitors unless medically necessary. Medically necessary visitors will be determined on a case by case basis.

• We ask that those with appointments or emergent needs enter through the Rehab entrance on Park Street or the ER/Urgent care entrance on Lincoln Street.

• All those who enter will be screened. If a patient needs to have a family member or close friend attend an appointment with them, they must be healthy and know that they will be screened upon arrival.

All visitors are required to wear a visiting badge.

Some hospital units/ambulatory care areas may implement other restrictions, and will be handled on a case by case basis.

• Most importantly, do not visit if you are sick.

Practice hand hygiene before and after visiting a patient. Wash your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds or rub your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer for 15 seconds.

Cover your cough. Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then dispose of the tissue. Use your shirt sleeve, not your hands, if no tissue is available.

Call patients with your well wishes instead of visiting in person. Your concern will be just as genuine—and welcome.

Visitor restrictions are temporary and may change as we monitor the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.

GTC represenattives also ask the public to help us limit the number of visitors at their clinics.

Those who feel they need medical attention are asked to call before they come in.
