Highway 93 crash kills one


Members of the Trempealeau County Highway Department finished cleaning up Highway 93 after a crash that killed Eleva resident Theodore Miland on Monday morning.

One person is dead after a crash on Highway 93 in the town of Chimney Rock early Monday morning. Theodore Miland, 53, of Eleva was driving northbound on Highway 93 near Knudtson Valley Ln. before the car he was driving crossed the center line and struck a dump truck, according to a release issued by the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department. Both vehicles had one occupant, the driver of the dump truck, Wyatt Hillestad, 20, also of Eleva, did not report any injuries. The highway was closed for three hours due to the crash, which occurred at approximately 6:44 a.m. Miland reportedly worked third shift at Ashley Furniture Industries and is believed to have been on his way home. The sheriff's department was assisted by the fire departments from Eleva, Strum, and Independence along with first responders from Eleva and Independence. The Independence Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted at the scene along with Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Arcadia Ambulance Service and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
