Independence board hears options for energy efficiency

The Independence school board recently received an extensive follow-up presentation from Upper 90, an energy service company that assists districts in reassessing their energy expenditures while supporting long-term energy solutions.

The board was presented with two options. One focused on maintenance and energy efficiency assessments and the other on long-range facilities planning and relationship building. After discussion, the board voted to proceed with the energy efficiency assessment, agreeing to a $5,000 fee. Should they choose to enter into a long-term partnership with Upper 90, the company has agreed to refund the assessment fee.

Additionally, the board approved moving forward with a contract for Infinite Campus, an online registration platform for the district. The platform will allow parents to register their children, view grades, and access class schedules, among other features.

The board also:

• Approved district policy updates including extracurricular activities, foster care children, and alcohol and drug free workplace.

• Discussed the student and staff climate survey results

• Reviewed the 2024-25 calendar to plan for inclement weather.

• Discussed policies to review next month
