Inmate dies from ‘natural causes’

A 56-year-old man who was an inmate in the Trempealeau County jail died in a Minnesota hospital last week from what Sheriff Brett Semingson said were natural causes.

The man, who had an unspecified medical condition, was taken from the jail to the emergency department of Gunderson Tri-County Hospital and Clinics in Whitehall last Thursday before being airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Semingson said. The man died on Friday.

Semingson said there was no jail incident prior to the man’s emergency treatment. “This was not a jail death,” Semingson said.
