Jail inmate charged with new felonies
An inmate in the Trempealeau County jail faces new charges after he allegedly broke a restraint and spit toward a jail staff member who was informing him his probation was being revoked.
Bernardo Pagan, 58, of 2038 Crescent Drive in Eau Claire is charged with felony battery or threat to a law enforcement officer, spitting at a public safety worker, and misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. He is alleged to be a repeat offender in all the charges.
Court document say that when a sheriff’s lieutenant approached Pagan’s cell Oct. 15 to inform him his probation was being revoked, the man reportedly began banging his head on the cell bars, broke a restraining belt and, when the lieutenant entered the cell, spit toward and threatened her.
His initial court date is scheduled for Jan 5, 2021. He was being held on a felony charge of methamphetamine possession in Barron County.
