Man hit by train in Trempealeau
A 74-year-old male who had been reported to have been missing for a few hours was found alive after being hit by a train in the town of Trempealeau.
According to a press release issued by the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department, the man — whose name was not released as of Tuesday morning — was reported missing at 2:53 p.m. on Monday. At approximately 3:15 p.m. the same day, the sheriff’s department received a call from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Division Trainmaster reporting one of its trains had struck a pedestrian. It was reported to police that the man was walking between a set of tracks in the Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge.
Emergency units arrived on the scene and began searching the area before a Trempealeau firefighter found the man in some brush. The male sustained a broken left arm and was transported to a hospital in La Crosse with non-life-threatening injuries.
