Men charged with threatening brother

Two Blair men were charged with threatening and, in an incident last week, firing a gun at their brother.

Jarred Allen Mortenson, 31, of 619 Sylfest St. 109, and Derick Travis Mortenson, 29, of 228 W. Broadway face multiple felony charges following an incident at an apartment last Tuesday. During that incident, Derick is alleged to have banged on the window and shouted insults at his brother inside the apartment. When the brother went outside, Derick allegedly fired once at him, missing the man, the criminal complaint states.

As the man and his girlfriend then drove away, Jared allegedly hit the car with a knife, breaking a side mirror. The man reportedly told officers he had been threatened and attacked by the brothers previously, and shared with sheriff’s deputies messages he had been sent.

Both men remained in Trempealeau County jail Monday. Derick was being held on $2,500 bond, Derick on $5,000. Jarred is charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, being a party to a crime, domestic abuse and two felony counts of bail jumping.  Derick is charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, domestic abuse, stalking, being a party to a crime and bail jumping.
