Names released from fatal crash

The names of the victims of a fatal crash along Highway 93 between Independence and Eleva have been released by the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department.

Austin Anderson, 23, of Durand and Tara Pataska, 45, of Onalaska were the victims in the two-vehicle collision which occurred near County Road V in the town of Albion Wednesday afternoon. 

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The other was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital, but later succumbed to injuries. There were no the occupants in either vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department. 

Assisting the sheriff's department were the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Strum and Independence police departments, first responders and fire departments from Eleva and Strum and Mayo helicopter.
