One killed in head-on crash

One person was pronounced dead at the scene after a head-on crash early Tuesday morning near Arcadia. 

The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department reported two vehicles collided on Highway 93 in the town of Arcadia near Loesel Ln. at 1:26 a.m. The highway was closed for about three hours as emergency personnel worked on the scene. 

The driver of the southbound vehicle sustained serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Police did not indicate in which lane the crash occurred and the subject’s names were not released as of press time. 

The crash was still under investigation as of press time.
