Raiders pin Norse in nonconference dual

The Arcadia wrestling team won the first three matches and then took five of the last seven to beat Whitehall on the road, 54-28, last week Tuesday.

The Raiders began the match with three straight pins as Edgar Ortiz (170) pinned Broc Coburn in 2:54 before Gery Lopez (182) stuck Luke Matejka in 3:24 and Martin Aguilar (195) topped Lukas Paske in 40 seconds.

Whitehall got on the board when Eric Kleinhans (220) received a forfeit, but Arcadia got those points back when Eric Bustos (285) received one of his own. Frank Juresh (106) and Nolan Thompson (113) both received forfeits to bring the Norse within one match at 24-18, but Arcadia won the next three to clinch the dual.

Ivan Aguilar (120) pinned Andy Flores in 2:32 before Matthew Badillo (126) received a forfeit and Nestor Badillo (132) stuck Ashton Hanson in 1:43, putting Arcadia ahead 42-18.

Whitehall stopped the bleeding when Oriah Anderson (138) pinned Arcadia’s Logan Conrad in 3:59. Arcadia responded with a pin by Hunter Fitzpatrick (145) over Cristobal Aguilar. 

The teams split the last two matches as Whitehall’s Gus Poulos beat Arcadia’s Nicholas Esteban my major decision and Arcadia’s Cruz Patzner (160) pinned Whitehall’s Brayden Fonstad in 1:02.
