Stenbergs chosen as parade marshals

Brian and Jean Stenberg will be honored as marshals for the 2024 Cheese Fest parade in Blair on Sunday.

Both have been active in the community for decades.

Jean Stenberg worked more than 40 years in the food stand in addition to helping with the Cheese Chase, yard award and kiddie parade. She is also responsible for hiding Squeak and creating clues to help people find him.

Brian Stenberg served on the Cheese Fest board of directors for 10 years. He was integral in beginning the volleyball tournament, getting bulk tank coolers donated, and helping build the Miss Blair float. He has also helped with the tractor pull, grilling and cleanup for more than 20 years.

The Grand Parade will begin down Broadway St. at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Cheese Fest begins with an awards night Thursday night when Miss Blair will be crowned. The Tapping of the Golden Keg will be held in the fire station that night, featuring Oktoberfest Singers.

The truck and tractor pulls return this year, running on both Friday and Saturday evenings on Broadway St. in front of the fire station. The pulls were not held last year due to construction on Broadway St.

The carnival will also be held, running Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. and again from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.

Music will be played in the fire station all three days with Tippenback Ridge playing Friday, Rhythm Playboys and Ember hitting the stage on Saturday and Chrome Wheels closing out the celebration on Sunday.
