Turn lane to be added at highway intersection
Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $182,108 contract for a highway safety improvement project on US 53 at the east junction of WIS 95 in Trempealeau County. Work is scheduled to begin Monday.
Hegg Contractors, Inc. of Blair is the prime contractor for the project. WisDOT is aiming to reduce right-angle crashes involving traffic on WIS 95 wanting to turn left onto southbound US 53. Through this project, the right-turn lane from northbound US 53 will be offset, providing a clear window for WIS 95 left-turning motorists looking south for northbound US 53 traffic.
US 53 will remain open to traffic during construction, with the contractor using shoulder lane closures and flagging operations when needed. Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-August.
