Whitehall still searching for an administrator

Whitehall officials are continuing what the mayor said was their unhurried search for an administrator.

“Our idea is to be deliberate about the search,” said Mayor Jeff Hauser of the city’s closed session on the position last Tuesday. “We don’t feel the taxpayers are suffering while we look.”

The city’s previous administrator, Ashley Slaby, left the post in mid-summer, and Hauser said the city has received applicants that are “appealing” but officials are still looking at candidates. The city has already filled the deputy administrator position.

Whitehall, he said, is comparable to many small communities, competing for staff on pay and time off with larger organizations.

The council also approved an agreement with the SEH engineering firm for a pilot study of how to efficiently remove iron from the city’s water supply.
