Whitehall teen dies in out of state crash
Drew Earll, a 14-year-old Whitehall High School student was killed in a crash while traveling through Nebraska last Friday morning.
According to a release sent by the Nebraska State Patrol, a Ford F-150 Earll was a passenger in crashed into the back of a semitruck just after 9 a.m. The release said the semitruck was having mechanical issues as it departed from a weigh station westbound on Interstate 80 at mile marker 181 near North Platte. The semi was traveling slowly before being hit by the pickup, which was hauling a trailer.
Earll was pronounced dead at the scene, there were no other serious injuries reported. The crash was still under investigation as of Monday of this week.
A Go Fund Me page has been created to help the family pay for funeral expenses.
The Whitehall School District welcomed students and community members to the athletic track to take laps in honor of Earll on Monday of this week. The Whitehall Booster Club served hot chocolate as a fundraiser for the Earll family.
