Work continues on Whitehall hospital lot

Patients going to Gundersen Tri-County Hospital will be able to park in front of the new building in a couple of weeks.

This week, the hospital replaced valet parking with a shuttle service. Patients may be dropped off at the temporary hospital entrance or park in the municipal lot near Melby Park and take a shuttle to the entrance. The shuttle will run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patients in wheelchairs will not be able to use the shuttle and will need to be dropped off at the temporary entrance.

There will also be limited patient parking next to Sunrise Senior Living. That will be limited to 15-minute parking and handicap parking.

On Nov. 22, the first layer of asphalt is scheduled to be poured. At that time, patients and staff will be able to use the new lot.

The entire project is slated to be finished next April when the rest of the asphalt is poured and landscaping is completed.
