Shortened B-D Days to be held in Arcadia

It won’t be the same as past years, but the Arcadia Lion’s Club announced last week that it will again host Broiler-Dairy Days in Memorial Park at the end of May.

The event has been shorted to two days — the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend — due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the traditional events will return, but there will be some changes to fit the abbreviated schedule.

The biggest change is that the grand parade will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, instead of its usual 1 p.m. Sunday time. There will be no kiddie parade or talent show. There also won’t be a carnival this year due to what the Lion’s Club described as contractual issues due to the two-day celebration.

The celebration will begin at 4 p.m. on May 28 and end just after at 8 p.m. on May 29, when the Lions Club raffle drawing is held in the pavilion at Memorial Park.

The rodeo is still scheduled for Friday and Saturday, along with the softball tournament and entertainment on both nights in the pavilion. The motorcycle poker run, bags, volleyball, basketball, golf and soccer tournaments are scheduled for Saturday.
