Alice M. Havel

Alice Marie Havel, née Klomsten, 88, of Naperville, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, Monday, July 12, 2021. She was born February 19, 1933, in Whitehall, to her late parents, Oswald and Alvina Klomsten.
After graduating from Whitehall High School in 1951, Alice moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she met her husband, Bob. With Bob’s work transfers, they moved frequently, raising their five children in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Illinois. In her early years, Aliceworked as a stenographer and a sales clerk, yet her most treasured roles were as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She cherished and adored her children and grandchildren. She delighted in serving as Den Mother for the local Cub Scout troop. Alice was also an expert seamstress and a fabulous cook. Always busy, she enjoyed family outings and vacations as well as shopping sprees and garage sales, looking for bargains for her kids and her home. Her special smile, hugs, kisses and endearing love will live on in our hearts and minds forever!
Cherished wife of Robert “Bob” Havel for 67 years, to whom she was married on September 12, 1953; beloved mother of Katherine Havel of Naperville, Carole Havel of Bolingbrook, Connie Calabrese of Park Ridge, Joseph (Nikki) Havel of Plainfield, and the late Robert “Bobby” Havel, Jr.; adored grandma of: Matt, Sara, Kenny and Ashley (Hugo Ocegueda) Berke, Joshua Calabrese, Freya and Ingrid Havel; loving great-grandma of: Ava, Noah and Norma; dear sister of: Elizabeth “Bette” McGowan, Allen “Ozzie” Klomsten, Mary (Delmar) Dahl, Bonnie Terrell, and Jerry (Joanne) Klomsten.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville, IL, 60540.
