B-T, Whitehall invite community to discuss back-to-school plans

Both the Blair-Taylor and Whitehall School District have invited members of the public to discuss each district’s “back-to-school” plan, which includes making masks optional for students and staff.

The meetings will take place as part of each district’s regular meeting this coming Monday.  

The Blair-Taylor meeting will begin at 5:30. Community members may contact the district office at 608-989-2881 and request a paper copy of the draft plan from administrative assistant Crystal Sweno. The plan can also be found online here.

B-T’s plan states that masks will be optional for all students and staff. It says the plan “could change if local, state or federal mandates begin requiring masks in school buildings, or if we experience significant increases in positive rates in our community or at specific school or grade levels.” 

In addition to making masks optional, B-T is not offering the opportunity for students to attend classes remotely.

Whitehall’s plan (click here) is similar, except that district will be offering remote options for the 2021-22 school year, though the options will require specific permission from the appropriate principal. 

The plan states that “if conditions warrant, there could be modifications to the in-person learning and parent-elected remote options. Any changes that would need to occur will be based on the health orders from national, state and local health professionals, but will be made locally based on the needs of students, staff, families and the community.”

Whitehall’s meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
