B-T boys fourth, girls eighth at Cashton track invite

The Blair-Taylor High School boys’ track and field team finished inside the top three in five separate events at the Cashton Invitational last Saturday, and sophomore Paige Kelly led the way for the Wildcats on the girls’ side by taking third in the 100 meter dash.

Junior Delorean Peterson raced to third place in the 1600 and also took second in the 3200 race, beaten in the latter by Dylan Powell of Brookwood by six seconds.

The 1600 relay team of Hunter Wagner, Ben Lien, Evan Nehring and Riley McAdams took third in their event, bested by Cashton and Seneca. McAdams also took third in the long jump.

Sophomore DaVonne Turner won the long jump and was the only athlete to clear the 18-foot mark on Saturday. The boys were beaten as a team by Brookwood (108), New Lisbon (85) and Cashton (76).

Kelly, a sophomore, was the only girl to crack the top three for Blair-Taylor on Saturday. Kickapoo/La Farge won the girls competition handily with 142 points, and the Wildcats raced to eighth place. 

Blair-Taylor was set to compete this week at Cochrane-Fountain City on Tuesday.
