Indees open WIAA tournament with win
The Independence/Gilmanton baseball team opened Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament play with a win last Thursday.
The Indees lost to Pepin/Alma 16-2 in the last regular season game, a team they will have seen again this week in the regional semifinal. The second-seeded Indees advanced with a 10-0 win over Alma Center Lincoln on Thursday. No further information from either game was reported to the Times.
Several I/G regulars were competing in track and field postseason events last week Monday and Thursday, but will return to the lineup this week as the Indees have a rematch with (3) Pepin/Alma.
The winner of that game will play the winner of the game between (1) Eleva-Strum and (4) Cochrane-Fountain City on Wednesday. The sectional is set for this coming Tuesday in Shell Lake.
