G-E-T’s Haney named Coulee’s top lineman

In a conference with two teams that played for the state championship, one Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau player stood out.
G-E-T’s Thomas Haney, a senior, was named the Coulee Conference’s lineman of the year in awards announced the weekend of the state championship games. Haney was a first-team pick on the All-CC offensive line and honorable mention at defensive line. He helped the Red Hawks to a third-place finish in the conference, behind only West Salem and La Crosse Aquinas. West Salem went on to finish as the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division Three runner-up, while Aquinas won the Division Five state title.
G-E-T (5-5, 5-2) competed in the Division Five playoffs, losing in Level One to Colby. Joining Haney on the first team is another offensive lineman Cisco Jimenez, who was also a second-team defensive lineman. Domanick Knott was the first-team kicker.
On the All-CC second team was Kyle Seiling, special teams; Will Mack, linebacker and Carter Repaal, defensive end.
While the first and second teams were dominated by players from West Salem and Aquinas, G-E-T had a handful of players earn honorable mention honors including: Kaileb Lakey, offensive and defensive line; Cullen Kulas, offensive line; Cody Schmitz, quarterback; Nate Schindler, running back and linebacker; Warren Stoner, running back and defensive back; Elijah Sorenson and Ben Peterson, tight end; Knott, punter; Brandt Robinson, linebacker; Brady Seiling, Kyle Seiling and Ben Hilton, defensive back.
Arcadia (3-6, 2-5) finished sixth in the Coulee led by All-CC second-team players Egan Pauly, defensive back, and Landon Bremer, linebacker. Senior Cruz Patzner was honorable mention at offensive and defensive line as was Caleb Glenzinski, tight end; Landon Bremer, special teams; Max Sobotta, linebacker and Jordan Rotering, defensive back.
The conference player of the year was West Salem running back Luke Noel. Other first-team members are linemen: Shane Willenbring, Aquinas, Kellen Wright, W.S.; Jack Weininger, Westby. Quarterback Jackson Flottmeyer, Aquinas; Brett McConkey, W.S. Running back Colin Boyarski, Aquinas. Wide receivers: Collin Conzemius, Aquinas and Brennan Kennedy, W.S. Tight end: Owen Zahm, Viroqua. Punter: Evan Voss, Black River Falls. Special teams: Brennan Kennedy, W. Salem.
Other second team offensive players include linemen Aaron Manke, W.S.; Ben Roth, Altoona; Brett Ziolkowski and Isaac Schumacher, Aquinas and Wilbur Blackdeer, BRF. Running backs Garrett Vatland, Westby and Calvin Hargrove, Aquinas. Wide receivers: Evan Voss, BRF and Andrew Fassbinder, Viroqua. Tight end: Damien Lee, Aquinas. Punter: Brett McConkey, W. Salem and kicker: Jackson Flottmeyer, Aquinas.
First team defensive players include defensive backs Brennan Kennedy, W.S.; Walter Berns, Aquinas; Brett Crume, Westby. Linebackers: Luke Noel, W. S.; Clavin Hargrove, Aquinas; Damien Lee, Aquinas and Kellen Wright, W.S. Defensive linemen: Jesse Loging, Connor Bahr and Aaron Manke, W.S. and Dan Frydenland, Westby.
Second team defensive players include defensive backs Chris Calico, W.S. and Bo Miluntnivich, Westby. Linebackers: Colin Boyarski, Altoona; Garrett Vatland, Westby and Aidan Gunderson, BRF. Defensive linemen Rhett Stenslien, Westby and Henry Suttie, Aquinas.
