Arcadia wrestlers eighth, I/G ninth at La Crosse Logan invite
A pair of Trempealeau County wrestling teams finished inside the top 10 at a high school wrestling invitational in La Crosse on Saturday, and one wrestler left with a title in his weight class.
Arcadia took home an eighth place finish at the invite at La Crosse Logan High School, while Independence/Gilmanton placed ninth. Hudson won the event, with West Salem/Bangor taking second.
Jacobo Medina of I/G went undefeated on Saturday, pinning four of his six opponents in the 285-pound bracket to lead all county wrestlers with a tournament title.
Hunter Fitzpatrick led Arcadia with a second-place finish at 138 pounds, pinning his first four opponents before losing by major decision to La Crosse’s Cole Fitzpatrick in the final match.
Ivan Aguilar (120) finished fifth for Arcadia after he responded to an opening loss with a pair of pins and a bye while Cruz Patzner (152) also finished fifth in his weight class. Teammate Matthew Badillo (126) finished sixth, and the Raiders got a pair of seventh place finishes from Gery Lopez (170) and Eric Bustos (285).
Nestor Badillo (132) and Martin Aguilar (182) each took eighth, Nicolas Esteban (145) finished ninth and Ivan Aguilar (120) finished 11th.
Gavin Bragger finished fourth for I/G at 182 pounds and Mason Gierok (170) took fifth. Cora Sonsalla (120) and Gracie Rombalski took sixth for I/G, with teammates Mitchell Halvorsen (195) and Sam Marsolek (138) placing seventh.
Other finishers for I/G included Gabe Petrel (145) in eighth, Preston Solberg (220) in ninth, Max Marsolek (152) in 11th and Clay Herdahl (160) in 13th.
