Indees top Buffaloes in nonconference dual

The teams split the six matches that were wrestled, but Independence/Gilmanton beat Mondovi/Eleva-Strum, 48-18, thanks to five forfeits. 

Sam Marsolek (138), Mason Gierok (170) and Gavin Bragger (182) all picked up pins for the Indees. Marsolek topped Coby Vollmer in 2:47 while Gierok stuck Hunter Wik in 3:17 and Bragger topped Ethan Odegard in 1:41.

The Buffaloes also had three pins as Blaize Parker (152) beat Max Marsolek, Cody Wagner (160) topped Clay Herdahl and Tristen Teigen (195) overcame Preston Solberg. 

The difference came in forfeits as I/G’s Owen Gierok (126), Gabe Pietrek (145), Drew Bragger (220), Anderson Barcenas (285) and Gracie Rombalski (106) all received forfeits. 

The win improved I/G’s record to 10-3 on the season before a triangular in Arcadia on Tuesday of this week. On Thursday, the Dairyland Conference duals begin in Whitehall as the Indees are slated to wrestle the Melrose-Mindoro/Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau varsity reserve team. 

I/G will compete in a tournament in Arcadia on Saturday before hosting a Dairyland dual with matches against Cochrane-Fountain City and Whitehall next Thursday.
