GMC gymnasts compete at La Crosse Invite
The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro/Cochrane-Fountain City high school gymnastics co-op kept their season going in a nine-team invitational in La Crosse on Saturday.
Team scores and full results were not reported to the Times, but a number of GMC gymnasts showed their talents well on Saturday.
GMC was scheduled to host Viroqua on Monday before West Salem/Aquinas visits on Thursday.
Senior Abby Miller led GMC with an all-around score of 36.05, which was helped by a dominant 9.575 for her floor routine. Miller added scores of 8.975 on beam, 8.9 on vault and 8.6 on bars.
A pair of freshman continued to shine for GMC on Saturday.
Abbi Bronsteatter had the second-best score for GMC on Saturday, finishing with a 32.2 (9.1 floor, 8.075 beam, 7.7 vault and 7.325 bars).
Freshman Tori Thoma continues to be a welcomed addition to the team and scored a 31.85 on Saturday.
Thoma’s best events were floor, where she scored an 8.55, and beam, where she scored an 8.3. She scored a 7.75 on vault and 7.25 on bars.
Classmate Ellie Cox had a 28.75 thanks to an 8.0 in floor, 7.3 on vault, 6.8 on beam and 6.65 on bars.
Senior Trista Thill did not compete in floor but recorded an 8.12 in beam to go with a 7.85 on bars and a 7.7 on vault. Esther Logue earned a 7.75 on her floor routine, her only event.
