Donna L. Fernholz

Donna Lynn Fernholz, 60, of Independence, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.

Donna was born August 26, 1962, in Whitehall, to Ronald E. and Barbara Jean (Adams) Harms. She married Karl Fernholz, August 1, 1983, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Donna graduated from Whitehall High School and attended technical school in La Crosse.

Donna provided childcare in her home and enjoyed crafting. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall and was active in its various organizations including WELCA, Sunday school and confirmation. 

Donna is survived by her husband, Karl; a step-daughter, Klara (Jerry) Fahnel of Wabasha, MN; two step-granddaughters: Paige Fahnel (Ken Phillips) of LeSueur, MN and Aubri “Brendon” Fahnel of Wabasha, MN; a step-great-grandson, Waylon John Phillips; two brothers: Randy (Kathy) and Wayne (June) Harms, both of Whitehall; nieces and nephews: Zachary and Haley Harms, Kennedy and MaggieMay Harms.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery, both in Whitehall. Pastor Peter Jonas will officiate.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
