Norma E. Bergerson

Norma E. Bergerson (Nelson) of Northfield, passed away and went to be with our Lord, July 27, 2023.
Born March 21, 1936, in Whitehall, Norma spent her formative years on a cherished family farm in Northfield. Fate brought her together with her loving husband, Ove, who lived just over the hill from her family’s farm. After a heartwarming five-year courtship, they exchanged vows on April 8, 1956, in a ceremony at Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church. Their journey together led them to various farming ventures in Wisconsin, including York, Cataract and Leon. Ove and Norma, along with the Blom brothers, James and LeRoy, started an Old Time Band called The Scandinavians that performed for 20 years. As they cultivated their life together, their family flourished with the arrival of their four children.
Norma’s dedication and passion extended beyond her family life. For 30 years, she committed herself to the Monroe County Dairy Herd Improvement Association in Sparta, where she worked as a lab technician. In 1979, the family returned to their beloved Northfield and it was during this time that the Notes of Norway band was formed. Together, they shared their musical talents at weddings, anniversaries and public dances, bringing joy to countless hearts. Norma and Ove were active members of New Hope Community Lutheran Church and she found immense joy in lending her beautiful voice to the choir.
Norma leaves behind a rich legacy, survived by two brothers: Bill (Linda) Nelson and Mel (Barb) Nelson; one sister, Cleo Scharlau; one brother-in-law, James Adams; and one sister-in-law, Arlene Severson; four children: Rick (Tammy) Bergerson, Russell Bergerson, Renee (John) Jacobson and Ryan (Amelia) Bergerson; 12 grandchildren: Ashley (Lee) Moody, Joshua Bergerson, Micah (Shara) Jacobson, Katie (Namen) Donnelly, Nikki (Cody) Campbell, Corey (Brooke) Jacobson, Sarah Jacobson, Ethan Jacobson, Thea Bergerson, Ella (Dylan Meyer) Bergerson, Nora Bergerson and Iyla Bergerson; and nine great-grandchildren; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ove Bergerson; as well as her parents, Norman and Thea Nelson; her sister, Diane Adams; her brother, Roger Nelson; and her brothers-in-law: Jim Faldet and Russell Scharlau.
