Elk Mound utilizes second-half surge to beat Arcadia boys

An 11-point halftime lead was not enough for Arcadia in the boys basketball team’s second game of the season last Friday.

Despite a powerful first half and an advantage at the break, visiting Elk Mound surged once the whistle blew to start the second half — the Mounders outscored Arcadia 30-11 in the second half to escape with a 53-45 win.

Arcadia (1-1, 1-0 Coulee Conference) was set to host Durand-Arkansaw on Monday and gets its second taste of conference play on Friday as Black River Falls comes to town.

A 34-23 lead at halftime was restricted by a slower Arcadia offense in the second half last Friday.

Junior Kaiden Rotering was Arcadia’s busiest player, scoring 15 points.

Senior Maverick Drazkowski added 13 for the hosts, and Prestin Scow had 10.

Individual statistics for the Elks (2-0) were not reported.
