Raider girls win two of three

The Arcadia High School girls basketball team won two of its three games last week as the Raiders approach the 10-win mark this season.
Arcadia started last week with a win over Coulee Conference foe Black River Falls on Monday and followed the effort with a win over Eleva-Strum the following night.
The Raiders (9-5 overall, 6-1 Coulee) finished last week with a 64-39 loss to Onalaska on Thursday. Arcadia trailed Onalaska by 10 points early in the first half and never recovered. Statistics for that game were not reported to the Times.
Arcadia was scheduled to play Sparta (5-11, 1-5 Mississippi Valley Conference) on Tuesday before Westby (5-10, 2-4 Coulee) visits this Thursday.

A 16-point halftime lead last Monday on the road was enough for Arcadia to improve to 6-1 in conference action.
The Tigers (1-14, 1-6 Coulee) trailed 35-19 at halftime and never made up the difference.
Freshman Madison Grotjahn led Arcadia with 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She was helped by senior Casidi Pehler’s double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Black River Falls’ Kenley Brown led the hosts with 10 points.

Tatum Drazkowski continued her strong play under the rim with 19 rebounds and also paced Arcadia with 14 points in last Tuesday’s win at Eleva-Strum.
The Raiders won their second consecutive game despite trailing 25-23 through one half.
Pehler added 11 points for the Raiders against the Cardinals (3-11 this season), which were led by a 13-point performance from Avery Genz.
