G-E-T falls to Logan, Viroqua

Halene DeJager and Emma Grams were the busiest Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau girls basketball players last week as the Red Hawks lost a pair of games. 

La Crosse Logan handed the Red Hawks (4-14, 3-5 Coulee Conference) a loss last Tuesday before G-E-T pushed Viroqua to the final whistle in a tighter effort on Thursday night.

The Red Hawks were scheduled to visit the Black River Falls Tigers (1-19, 0-8) on Tuesday ahead of this Friday’s trek to play nearby Arcadia (12-6, 8-1).

An 18-point advantage after 17 minutes of play was enough for Logan (4-13, 2-5 Mississippi Valley Conference) in last Tuesday’s nonconference game in La Crosse. 

Twelve different players scored for Logan, which got a game-best 19 points from Aaliyah Hamilton. 

Juniors DeJager and Emma Grams co-led G-E-T with nine-point games. 

Grams paced both teams with 15 rebounds.

Viroqua 40 G-E-T 30

DeJager again led the Red Hawks—this time with an 11-point performance to lead all players—in last Thursday’s loss on the road. 

The Red Hawks and Blackhawks (4-12, 2-6) played to a 20-15 score at halftime with the hosts in the lead. 

Hailey Drejne led Viroqua with 10 points and Rachel Diehl had nine for the hosts, while Tatum Johnson scored seven for G-E-T.
