Viroqua edges Arcadia boys to end hoops regular season

A loss to Viroqua last Thursday put the final stamp on the 2023-24 regular season for the Arcadia High School boys basketball team.

Arcadia finished the regular season 12-12 overall and 4-8 in the Coulee Conference.

The seventh-seeded Raiders opened the postseason on Tuesday by hosting 10th-seeded Ripon (7-17, 1-11 East Central Conference) in a regional quarterfinal at the Wanek Center.

The winner of the quarterfinal was scheduled to visit second-seeded Omro (21-3) in a regional semifinal this Friday.

Omro was ranked 10th in last week’s wissports.net coaches poll for Division Three.

A four-point gap in favor of the Raiders at halftime would not hold up in Arcadia’s regular season cap last week.

The host Blackhawks saw three players score in double digits, led by 14 points from Matthew Weston. Teammate Andrew Fassbinder recorded a double-double for Viroqua with 11 points and 10 assists.

Arcadia was led by a combination of Maverick Drazkowski, who scored 17 points, and Prestin Scow, who had 16.
