Jumper shoots low for G-E-T golf but Westby wins Arcadia meet
Arcadia Country Club played host to numerous low rounds when the Coulee Conference boys golf field visited last Thursday.
Five golfers shot sub-40 rounds at the par-36 course last week, and one of them plays for a Trempealeau County team.
Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau junior Nic Jumper carded a 2-over par 38 to tie for third place on Thursday and finish one stroke under the best score.
Westby junior Brooks Hoffland and Luther senior Tyler Arenz tied for medalist honors with matching 37s and helped their teams to top finishes, too — Westby won the meet with 162 points, followed tightly by Luther in second with 164.
Black River Falls finished third at 168, West Salem took fourth with 170 and Jumper helped G-E-T to fifth with 173. Arcadia was sixth at 179, and Wonewoc-Center carded a team score of 197.
Jumper’s efficient day tied him with West Salem junior Kyle Hehli. Slade Stackhouse from Westby rounded out the top five scores with a 39, good for third place.
Arcadia senior Joey Theis led the Raiders with a 6-over-par 42, a score posted by six golfers last week.
The Raiders’ next best score came from Carson Schultz and Stryder Miller, who each shot a 45. Kaiden Rotering carded a 47, and Simon Haines rounded out Arcadia’s scores with his 49.
Red Hawks to break 50 included senior Mason Kromrey (44), sophomore Aiden Johnson (45), junior Maddox Scow (46) and sophomore Kylan Olson (49). Domanick Knott added a 50 for G-E-T.
Both Arcadia and G-E-T will visit Ettrick Golf Course this Thursday. The teams will close this week with an invitational meet at River Run Golf Course in Sparta on Saturday.
