Few changes as Blair council reorganizes

There will be very few changes in Blair city government as most of the committees remain the same with all six council members returning for another year.

Jeremy Tranberg, Jill Anderson and Dennis Stephenson were administered their oaths as all three won reelection bids without challengers earlier this month. Stephenson was unanimously voted the council president.

The only committee change was Tranberg being named president of the park and recreation committee — replacing Anderson, who will still serve on the committee.

In other matters, the council voted to allow the city staff and pool director to handle the hiring of lifeguards and swimming instructors.

The council also heard that a story walk may be installed at Riverside Memorial Park this summer. Anderson told the council that library director Kris McNamer was getting quotes for boards and poles that will be installed along the walking trail in the main portion of the park. Each stand will have pages for a book, allowing people to read as they walk along the paved trail.

Initially, the city planned on having lights along the trail with the story walk, but found the cost of those to be too significant.
